Conversion of former Exminster Hospital to luxury homes

This landmark restoration project which was visited by Prince Charles, saw the conversion of the former hospital converted into 112 luxury homes in its own grounds.

Gun-point’s South West office was employed to carry out extensive repairs including repointing, brick replacement, crack stitching and cleaning works.

The repointing which was overseen by the Teignbridge District Council Conservation Officer was undertaken using the local English Heritage restoration mix of hydraulic lime and blended sands for this Grade 2* listed building.

Work continued over two years as each of the eight wings, Manor House and atrium were converted in sequence.

The Gun-point mortar pump was seen as the most appropriate method for the repointing with its proven advantages over traditional hand pointing.
